Menopause and Mental Health
Perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than physical health. For many women, this stage of life can also bring emotional and psychological changes that feel unexpected or difficult to understand.
Perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than physical health. For many women, this stage of life can also bring emotional and psychological changes that feel unexpected or difficult to understand.
You may notice increased anxiety, low mood, irritability, overwhelm, or a loss of confidence. Some women experience panic, poor sleep, brain fog, reduced motivation, or find emotions feel more intense than usual. Existing worries, past experiences, or relationship challenges can also feel more present during this time.
Menopause can affect relationships, body image, sexuality, and sense of identity. Changes in libido, confidence, energy levels, or the way you feel about yourself may leave you feeling disconnected or unlike yourself.
These experiences are common, but that doesn’t mean you have to struggle through them alone. Counselling can offer a supportive space to make sense of what you’re experiencing, manage difficult emotions, and reconnect with yourself during a time of significant change.
If menopause is affecting your wellbeing, support is available. I have extensive experience supporting women through the emotional and psychological impact of perimenopause and menopause. Please feel free to call or email if you would like to discuss counselling.
